A Nerdling is a small, one-of-a-kind polymer clay figurine made by hand in Madison, WI, with an expressive personality and a hand gesture of your choice.
If you spotted one at a craft fair and did a double-take, that tracks. Nerdlings are meant to catch you off guard in the best possible way — the same feeling you got as a kid finding something wonderful on a toy store counter that you absolutely did not need and absolutely had to have.
Each one is made by me, in my studio, one at a time, with care. No molds, no mass production, no two exactly alike.
What Does a Nerdling Look Like?
Small. Expressive. A little unhinged in a very lovable way.
For scale: Nerdlings are photographed on a US quarter, and that is a pretty honest representation of their size. They are tiny, but they have got presence. Big personalities in a small package, with hand-sculpted features and a gesture that gives them their whole vibe.
Speaking of gestures: when you order a Nerdling, you pick one. Current options are The Bird, ILY, The Horns, Point, Shh, Peace, Nervous, and Surprise Me (for the truly chaotic). You also choose your color. The result is a Nerdling that feels like it was made for whoever is getting it, because it was.
How Are Nerdlings Made?
One at a time, by hand, start to finish. Polymer clay, a lot of attention, and at least seven calendar days from when you order before your Nerdling is ready to ship. That is not a delay; that is the whole point. It is made for you after you place your order.
I built the studio around joy, grounding, and the careful making of tiny things. Every Nerdling that leaves here has been handled, shaped, fussed over, and approved. If something is not right, it does not ship.
Who Are Nerdlings For?
Honestly? People who appreciate weird little things. Collectors. Desk companions. People who want a gift that is not a candle. People who like knowing something was made specifically for them, not pulled off a shelf.
They are for you, or for someone you love, or for the coworker who has everything and would genuinely lose it over a tiny clay creature throwing up a peace sign.
Ready to pick yours? Choose your color and gesture, and I will get to work. Allow at least seven days plus shipping time; good things take a minute.
