A Whimsy Pot is a small decorative container made from polymer clay, with a sculpted character living on the outside. The opening is about an inch across and nearly two inches deep, big enough for a small air plant, a pencil, a Sharpie, or whatever else needs a home.
The inside is sealed and watertight, which makes a Whimsy Pot unusual among my pieces. Most polymer clay is strictly decorative, but a Whimsy Pot can actually hold soil and water, so a tiny live plant works.
I sculpt each one by hand in Madison, so the character on the front is always a little different.
A few common questions
Can a Whimsy Pot hold a real plant?
Yes. The sealed interior is the whole point, so a small air plant or succulent is happy in there.
Is it food safe?
No. Like the rest of my work, a Whimsy Pot is not for food or drink.
